We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who made the 2nd Annual Birdies for Babies Charity Golf Tournament a memorable and meaningful success.
Thanks to your support, we raised over $73,000 this year—enough to purchase two ventilators for the neonatal intensive care unit CHEO through the Sandra Schmirler Foundation. In just two years, Birdies for Babies has raised more than $130,000 to support life-saving equipment for newborns in our community.
That’s the power of coming together for a cause that matters.
In the words of our guest speaker, Sara Miller: “It’s about the people, it’s about the families, it’s about the hardest moments of someone’s life. It’s about ensuring that babies have the chance to grow up, chase dreams and become champions in their own way. Your generosity ensures that my mom’s legacy doesn’t end with her passing, but continues with every life saved, every family supported, and every baby that’s given a chance.”
Sara Miller is the daughter of Canadian curling legend Sandra Schmirler and a passionate advocate for the legacy her mother left behind. Born just two and a half years before Sandra’s passing in 2000, Sara has grown up in Saskatchewan carrying forward her mother’s inspiring story of perseverance, excellence, and giving back.
A competitive curler herself, Sara understands firsthand the impact of sport and community. She is deeply involved with the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, which raises funds to support life-saving equipment for premature and critically ill babies in NICUs across Canada—continuing the mission that was so close to her mother’s heart.
Sara’s journey is one of resilience, strength, and the power of legacy. At Birdies for Babies, she will share her personal story and the profound impact of the Foundation’s work, inspiring us all to make a difference for families in need.
